My house wants cake...

...I honestly think that my part of the house is still healing up from it's crazed and neglectful previous occupant. It likes the fact that I love it here so much, and it's overcompensating by wanting me to fill it with homey scents and objects...like, say, baking unnecessary cupcakes. I'm sure it isn't just me...it can't just be my subconscious desire to bake them, can it? Huh? Huh?

*uncomfortable silence*

Yeah, yeah, it's the worst rantionalizing of cupcake-baking ever. But on some level, I do think it's accurate to a certain extent. I light a little incense here and the house just seems to sigh and relax a little. Well, perhaps I'm anthropomorphizing...perhaps I should just stop worrying about my sanity levels and just enjoy our mutual happiness...

Because I keep trying and failing to suppress my urge for sweet things lately. Maybe it's because I'm suppressing it that it goes over the top. If I give into it it'll most likely go away on it's own...

I did end up making cupcakes...not bad ones, orangey and chocolatey, but I messed up the buttercream frosting. I didn't have any confectioner's sugar in the house, which apparently makes a big difference. Happily they tasted okay:)

My kids had a favorite book when they were little. It was about Fanny and May who lived with their mom in a house made out of cake. When their mom would leave, she'd tell them to be good and, "Don't eat the house!" But of course Fanny couldn't help herself...just one lick...next thing she knows, the whole house is eaten. So she went to the town wishing well to wish for the house to be back. But the man in front of her wished for there to be no more wishing well!! Poof, it was gone! It ended up that her mom baked bricks of yellow cake for a new house, and Fanny had to help her build it.

Maybe your yellow house is made of cake?
