Funny, but, I take offense! "Middle aged women" does not necessarily mean dull and lifeless, gimme a break here! I'm a lively and forthright (although not Australian) middle aged woman, and that is *not* an oxymoron. Hrmph.
I had no intention of maligning middle aged people, women (or even Australians), so I'm sorry if it came across negatively. My offence was sloveliness of expression rather than bad intent. I didn't say "dull & lifeless", and the people I was referring to certainly weren't that - actually they were quite a lively bunch, and I enjoyed my time with them.
My life plan is to live to (or past) 90, so with 30 years each of being young and old, I'm middle aged now at 36. It's marvellous! I get the impression from your posts that you're pretty comfortable with it too. Youth gets more than enough attention, old people have waved their flag for recognition, but there's not much said about us in the middle. Shall we campaign?
