Nesting...
Sep. 18th, 2002 07:43 amLike many of it's relatives, the North American Fledermaus has nesting instincts that kick in when the weather starts to change.
*A shot of Ms Mausi with a couple of sacks of groceries*
The leaves fall and the winds start to bring cooler air, and the Fledermaus, much like the nesting squirrels, prepares it's home for the rougher weather.
*A shot of Ms Mausi fluffing pillows, washing heavy blankets, foofing into the nice warm laundry, buying lightbulbs, washing monkey socks, hiding chocolate*
As the geese begin to think of migrating, the first instinct of the fledermaus is for hibernation....but occasionally they've been known to migrate as well.
*a shot of the Maus checking itineraries for warmer parts of the country...and Milwaukee. Milwaukee?*
This doesn't mean that they don't seem to enjoy the cooler weather..
*a shot of Ms Mausi playing in some leaves, looking at Halloween costumes, and running around in circles going "Wheeeee!"*

Date: 2002-09-18 06:17 am (UTC)You're making me want to buy pink mittens just for that entry, though they clash horribly with my blue Navy coat:)
(If you check far enough back, I have the discovery Channel-fledermaus-with-chocolate-entries last year and early parts of this year...I'll have to find and link'em, just for the hell of it.)
