I just read a story...
Jul. 28th, 2003 08:22 am...about the BBC proving there's no such beast as the Loch Ness Monster.:((((((
They couldn't find anything with sonar and whatnot in the loch. I think it's pretty obvious--while they were searching, Nessie disguised himself as an American tourist and snuck off to Lake Champlain when they weren't looking.
That's the thing about aquatic monsters--they're sneaky, verrry sneaky.

Date: 2003-07-28 10:32 am (UTC)Some years ago I heard an interesting theory: that what people are calling a "monster from the deep" is actually a giant sturgeon. In some of the deep water lakes and rivers in British Columbia, these elusive beasts are known to sometimes live hundreds of years, weigh over a thousand pounds and grow upwards of six feet long. They are rarely seen, but in the mid-90s some of these giants mysteriously washed ashore dead in the lower Fraser River.
Some of the First Nations groups around here believe these sturgeon to be shamans that transformed shortly after dtheir deaths as humans.
Maybe Nessie is just some overgrown deep water fish.
